Although people enjoy the outdoors, they often want to have the best of both worlds. A lot of them will take along as many creature comforts as they possibly can on their camping adventures, from camping lanterns to even camping heaters, all in an effort to not part with the comforts of home that they have grown so used to.

Although getting a heater for camping can ease the discomforts of sleeping outdoors, there are a lot of reasons why you should really think about whether or not you need this particular piece of equipment before you go on and buy it.

One of the biggest problems with camping heaters is simply their size and weight. While carrying along a camping heater to a nearby place is not likely to be such a big deal, if you are even going to hike in a mile, you will be likely to notice the added weight of the heater as camping heaters weight a whole lot.

They are also bulky and not all that easy to carry on your back pack. If you are going somewhere easily accessible, you probably do not need to bother with a camping heater for your trip. If you are off to somewhere cold and remote, carrying along camping heaters will be likely to prove impractical.

Another big thing about camping heaters is that they are not safe. This is the biggest concern of all. Although camping heaters are often well made, a small leak over time can lead to a big disaster, such as asphyxiation, or an explosion.

Even when camping heaters are working properly, they can often be unsafe in a small environment. Tents are cozy, to say the least, and putting camping heaters in such an enclosed space is really just asking for trouble to happen.

The heater can be knocked over very easily, or it can have something flammable, such as clothing or the end of a sleeping bag, pushed into it accidentally. Do you really want to take that kind of a risk?

The truth is that, with a high quality tent, and a good sleeping bag, you will not need any camping heaters, even in the most remote of destinations. Follow my advice and sacrifice a little comfort for a lot of common sense.
