Pontoon Boats
First, what must be understood is that pontoon boats are no longer just for your dad & grandpa. Pontoon boats are being purchased by people of all ages. The reason is because pontoon boats are far more practical than they used to be and they are far more plush, sleek and much faster than they ever were in the past. It is always nice to be able to invite 10-15 friends over and have enough room for them on your party boat or impress them with the speed of 2 - 250hp mercury cruisers resting on the end of your outside pontoons.
Typical pontoon boats have two long pontoons, on top of which a deck is overlaid. The deck is usually constructed of marine-grade plywood and is attached to the pontoons using a Z- or C-bar frame, the latter being the current preferred method. A three-tube pontoon boat is much more stable over rough water since it stays above the wave, instead of going through it. Furthermore, a pontoon boat with a third tube allows you to reach higher speed because it can be equipped with a more powerful engine and floats higher above the water. This last characteristic also helps fuel economy. Finally, if the diameter of the center tube is greater than that of the side tubes, maneuverability is also improved, allowing for tighter turns.
To keep out the weather and provide shading, it is a good idea to put a canopy or cover over the deck, especially if you have a large party! You can explore beautiful lakes and take your friends and family out on an afternoon cruise, on your favorite lake, rivers or other protected waters. These boats are stable and offer an excellent platform for still fishing. You're advised to not take your pontoon boat out on the sea, as large bodies of water with large waves do not agree with pontoon boats!
